Puget Sound Grown

Puget Sound Forests - Taking Root in the Northwest

Everyday small forest landowners throughout Puget Sound provide us with "goods from the woods" that build our homes and feed our community - from foraged edibles like mushrooms and berries to flooring and fence posts.

Puget Sound Grown, an extension of our Puget Sound Fresh program, is proud to include a wide variety of forest products from well managed forest lands. When you buy local forest products you support responsible stewardship and a healthy environment, community and economy for generations to come.

About Puget Sound Grown

Cascade Harvest Coalition and Northwest Certified Forestry have recently joined efforts to promote locally produced forest items that can be sustainbly harvested and sold, from timber products such as logs, lumber and firewood, to non- timber forest products like edible berries, floral greens, mushrooms, medicinal plants or crafts made from native forest products.

This pilot program is currently targeting small forest landowners in King County.

If you're interested in connecting with other local producers, learning aobut marketing opportunities, new market channels and distribution outlets, or scheduling a free, two-hour site visit to help identify and evaluate what products your forest can produce, contact Kirk Hanson at Northwest Certified Forestry, kirk@nnrg.org, 360.316.317.
