FoodLust 2009
Food Lust 2009 at Fall City Farms on Saturday, June 6 was a whirlwind affair. A magic combination of fun and delicious, with an amazing bounty of local food, lovingly presented by an immensely talented cadre of chefs, farmers and event staff.
Participating chefs, farmers and producers featured emmer&rye, Local Roots, Herban Feast, Taylor Shellfish, Circa, Thundering Hooves, Full Circle Farm, TASTE at SAM, Macrina Bakery, Brasa/Elliott Bay Café, Bluebird Grain, Fall City Roadhouse, Ninety Farms, Matt’s in the Market, Skagit River Ranch, Beechers Handmade Cheese, Mt. Townsend Creamery, Gothberg Farms and Larkhaven Farmstead Cheeses. And that was just dinner.
When it came to dessert, over 20 restaurants donated a mouthwatering collection of cakes, pies, tarts, tortes, cupcakes and other sweet temptations. From Coconut Cream Pie (courtesy of Tom Douglas) to Sweet Cream Custard Brulees with salted caramel from Theo Chocolate, there was plenty to love at the dessert table in anticipation of the Dessert Dash. While eying the desserts, meeting up with friends and scoping out auction items, we sipped on premium selections from Hoodsport Winery, Lopez Island Winery, Perennial Vintners, Pike Brewery and Tony’s Coffee.
As far as the live auction, the evening’s biggest nail biter had to be the Farmer Chef Bacchanalia, with each new bid bringing an inspired round of table drumming, hearty cheers and sharp-eyed bidding. Some lucky Food Luster is now the recipient of a blowout feast for 12, featuring the talented Chef Tamara Murphy, Brasa, Chef Seth Caswell, emmer & rye and Autumn Martin, Theo Chocolates, along with VineOne Wines amidst the pastoral setting of Ninety Farms in Arlington.
Last, but not least, we tip our hats, forks, knives and plates and everything else to all of this year’s guests and auction donors plus an incredible crew of hardworking volunteers, Cascade Harvest Coalition board members and staff.
Special thanks to our generous sponsors – Central Co-op Madison Market, edible Seattle, Full Circle Farm, Good Food Strategies, Herbco International, New Roots Organics, Northwest Agriculture Business center, Organic Valley, PCC Natural Markets, Seattle Neighborhood Farmers Market Alliance, Seattle Tilth, Stewardship Partners, TASTE Restaurants/Cafes/Events and Willie Greens Organic Farm.
