Sliding-Scale Plant Sale

On September 18th, Cascadian Edible Landscapes & Creatives 4 Community is hosting their first Sliding-Scale Plant Sale to help get your winter gardens off to a great start! We will be starting at 10AM at Gatzert Elementary School located at 14th and Yesler Way.

The Sliding-Scale Plant Sale is our opportunity to bring you ready-to-plant flats of winter crop just in time for a winter season planting!

We offer wonderful, in-city grown, organic plant starts of over-winter seasonal crops for a sliding-scale price of $20-$50 per flat to provide access to healthy winter options at a price that more people can afford. Each flat contains enough starts for a 8’ x 20’ garden plot.

We feel that an average cost of $35 meets most households capacity, however those most in need or most able to give; give less or more depending of their ability. This ensures that access is increased and improved across the board for all!

Our goals are to: meet the plant starts needs of our community’s gardeners and urban farmers; to provide part-time work for youth; to create education and demonstration that local urban food systems can sustain and support a healthier Seattle.

About Creatives4Community (C4C):
C4C is one of a handful of organizations in the Puget Sound region that is led by low-income people of color that work with and for our community to improve access, leadership and a voice in the local food justice movement. We provide culturally appropriate training for youth, low-income and special populations to help them grow food and advocate for sustainable, equitable access to green job opportunities. 2010 activities include a city-wide discussion and talkback with Growing Power founder Will Allen, 81 youth trained in composting and urban planning, various partnerships and speaking opportunities with local organizations.
